Project Overview
Al Khobara Mining Company’s scope at the Hamdah Gold Project encompasses design, construction and the first year of operation, covering mining activities through to gold production.
The project uses heap leaching for gold extraction. Its reported resources and reserves total 180,000 ounces of gold under the JORC reporting framework, with actual monthly gold production of 1,768 ounces.
Challenges
Delivering the project required coordination between mine development, processing infrastructure, construction and operational startup. The integrated scope brought together the requirements of ore extraction, heap-leach processing and gold production.
Key operational considerations included cyanide management, process-solution handling and the management of spent ore and mine waste, alongside safety and environmental requirements.
Solutions
Integrated Design and Construction
Our scope combined the design and construction of the mining and processing facilities, linking project development with the requirements of subsequent operation.
Heap-Leach Processing
The project applies heap-leach technology to extract gold from mined ore. Our scope extends through the processing stage to gold production, connecting mining activities with the operation of the heap-leach process.
First-Year Operation
Our responsibilities included operating the project during its first year, providing continuity between construction, startup and production.
Cyanide Management and Specialist Expertise
Cyanide management follows international standards, supported by certified cyanide specialists. Their expertise supports the technical oversight of cyanide use within the gold-processing operation.
JORC Reporting Framework
The project’s mineral resource and reserve reporting follows the JORC Code, providing a recognized framework for communicating its mineral inventory.
